Killing Bono

Imagine growing up in Ireland in the 80's.....being in a band, competing for gigs and notariety with your friend's band - U2. That's the basic premise for Killing Bono, a new film out of the UK, directed by Nick Hamm. Leaving the mystery genre behind (having directed 2004's Godsend and 2001's The Hole), Killing Bono is based on the memoirs of the McCormick brothers and the band Shook Up.
Receiving somewhat mixed reviews, the film appears to be indecisive as to whether it is comedy with dramatic moments, or a drama with comedic moments. One thing most critics seem to agree on, though, is the casting of Martin McCann as a young Bono.

The film also will be known for being British actor Pete Posthelwaite's final picture. As noted on the imdb.com page, director Hamm had planned a bigger role for Pete, until he realized how frail he was. Consequently, he created "a new role that allowed them to film around [his] physical needs and abilities... a very funny, ridiculous part".

Enjoy the trailer.
