The Dark Side of The Vaccines

New Musical Express has touted The Vaccines as "the next big thing" and as "the one to watch in 2011" - they came in third place. If you're a regular follower of the music blogosphere, you've probably heard at least one of the pre-album releases over the past month or so.

With a sound reminiscent of The Ramones, this comparison has drawn their share of criticisms as well as accolades.

To separate myself from the rest of the blogs, I have decided to offer up an interesting, very arty video, rather than one of those aforementioned pre-releases.

Posted by the band themselves, this is a collaboration between Tom Furse (of The Horrors) and video artist Andy Hui. Tom's ambient interpretation of the band's "Blow It Up" renders it completely unrecognizable from the original. Coupled with Andy's found video images, culled from obscure tv and film sources, they have created an art film short.

It is for this very reason that I expose you to the dark side of The Vaccines):

The band plays a free show in Toronto tomorrow night at the Horseshoe Tavern, under the forecast of a crazy night of weather, including freezing rain. Somehow I don't think that will hinder attendance.

Their debut album will be released in March, and if they continue releasing songs, fans will own the entire album prior to it's release. Look out for the latest single, "Post Break-Up Sex", set for release January 23rd in the UK.
